The meal at the Hotel "El Rapido" in Felechosa was really quite good, however the dining room did rather lack in atmosphere. In fact we were the only diners! Sally had to have steak and chips again but I was able to have 3 trout - beautifully cooked at well.
Breakfast was not so good but at least we had our DIY porridge. It was fairly damp when we set off and just got wetter as the day went on. The landscape seemed more like somewhere in central America rather than Europe. The mountains and hills were heavily wooded and most of the buildings made of wood looked like they were slowly rotting away in the damp. Very beautiful at the same time though!
The first 12km required no pedalling so we put every layer we had on. Coffee and supermarket stop in CabaƱaquinta. The next 5km were up a 500m climb and then the next 12km were downhill again, so back went on all the layers. Menu of the day stop in Pola de Laviana - 3 courses for €8!
Then SE on the AS117 climbing steadily up past reservoirs and damns. The layers came off gradually and even the waterproof trousers came off for the last 5km despite the pouring rain. The road is fairly broad and well made until Camp de Caso but then looks more like a country lane in the UK, complete with pot holes. Apparently it is like this for the next 20km to the Puerto de Tarna at 1480m, which we will do tomorrow.
Had some difficulty finding the B&B in the small hamlet of Belerda since we rode straight past the entrance in the rain. Very nice place complete with fire, wifi and a fridge full of beer.
